-- Evanna Betcher, on behalf of the Wichita Mountain Lodge, has donated the group lodge and both cabins for many Christian Youth Groups, Christian Women’s Conferences, church services, and prayer groups. Weekend packages have been donated to The Starlight Children’s Foundation, and other local benefits and charities. The cabins and the group lodge have also been the retreat for many military couples and families. The Starlight Children’s Foundation provides entertainment, education, and family activities for extremely ill children in the U.S. and their families. Evanna Betcher is also a supporter of Vision of Hope which is a local ministry that is involved in Christian retreats for adults and children.
Evanna Betcher founded the Wichita Mountain Lodge in the fall of 2004, with a single cabin known as “Cabin In the Woods.” The Wichita Mountain Lodge is located near the Wichita Mountains of Southwest Oklahoma on the eastern edge of the historic resort community of Medicine Park. Furthermore, it is less than one mile from the 60,000 acre Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge. It’s also just a short drive to Lawton, Fort Sill Museum, Museum of the Great Plains, Meers, and Lake Lawtonka. At the Wichita Mountain Lodge, the property is situated in a gorgeous mountain valley setting around thousands of oak trees, native wildflowers and rugged mountain bluffs.
It is a very popular place for couples and families to retreat to the mountains and enjoy wildlife, outdoor campfires, and hiking around a spring fed pond. In 2005, Evanna bought a 2,000 square foot building and remodeled the building into a group lodge called “The Wichita Mountain Club House.” It has 2 separate suites and sleeps 12 people. The suite called “The Whispering Pine” has a large jacuzzi tub, four poster bed and sitting area. Evanna Betcher’s Wichita Mountain Club House is also a popular place for weddings and receptions. Due to the heavy bookings of the “Cabin on the Woods,” Evanna built an additional cabin in the property which is called “Cabin By the Lake.” It has a view of a large pond and gorgeous views of mountains and rock bluffs. The lodge also gives a military discount for any event or overnight stay. Due to family reunions, class reunions, wedding receptions, birthday parties, and group events hosted at the lodge in 2007, Evanna hired a lodge manager to take reservations, check people in and perform bookkeeping. The lodge is still operating as a very successful business and is owned by a local family from the Oklahoma area.
