ROSEVILLE, Minn. - May 9, 2014 - PRLog -- The controversial smart phone app which advises drivers of DUI rights and records conversations with law enforcement is now available for Minnesota drivers.  Minnesota DUI defense lawyer, Charles Ramsay, has partnered with the aptly named “Oh Crap App,” tailoring it to Minnesota’s drunk driving laws and making it available for FREE to the people of Minnesota.

The “Oh Crap App” is a crash course for drivers on what to do and what not to do when pulled over by law enforcement on suspicion of drunk driving.  The app explains the basic legal rights of a driver; provides an informational blood-alcohol content calculator; and features an emergency button which records the initial interaction between the driver and the law enforcement officer.

With over 61,000 downloads nationwide, the popularity of the app is soaring but is not without controversy.  Law enforcement is concerned that the app may promote drunk driving while Mr. Ramsay contends that its purpose is to educate the public and document the invocation of their rights in the appropriate circumstances.

According to Mr. Ramsay: “The majority of the motoring public do not know the extent of their legal rights or are misinformed on what their rights truly are and what they do and do not have to do when confronted by law enforcement.  This app will assist both law enforcement and the citizens of this State by correctly educating them on their legal rights.”
