But, Elem still dreams of one day following in his late parents footsteps and traveling the world. His job at the local tavern, his best buddy Rary and his aunt and uncle are his whole world. When a roving carnival passes through his home town, the young workhand's life takes a sharp turn. An encounter with a beast and a foreign beauty gives him a newfound sense of confidence and purpose. So, when the village needs a volunteer to collect aid in dealing with a returned plague, Elem volunteers. Not be outdone, Tearian the local barmaid joins the quest. What the former childhood friends discover on their journey through the valley and beyond will test the limits of their friendship and everything they have ever known.
From werewolves to witches, elves to fairies, and thieves to assassins Elem's course will never be dull. When a mad witch sets her sights upon the secrets of Black Rock Elem and his friends are the only things in her way. The challenge comes in trying to survive the wild ride while simultaneously accomplishing the goal he set out to achieve in the first place. His village needs him, but some tasks are bigger than one person.
