SouthCoast Imaging sponsors Main Street Shopping Day to benefit volunteers in medicine

May 7, 2014 - PRLog -- As part of its continuing efforts to support the community, SouthCoast Imaging Hilton Head, the island’s only facility offering life-saving 3D Mammography, is sponsoring a special Mother’s Day Main Street Shopping Event to benefit Volunteers in Medicine.

Eight Main Street merchants-look for the sign in the window- will donate a percentage of their sales from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Thursday, May 8 to Volunteers in Medicine, a not-for-profit local clinic which has been providing a free health care to more than 80,000 patients for the last 20 years.

Shoppers can top off their May 8 Mother’s Day shopping spree with a free glass of wine from Main Street Café & Pub when they present a Breast Cancer Myth Card from a participating merchant.

Since opening its doors in Hilton Head in September of 2013, SouthCoast Imaging Hilton Head has regularly partnered with local merchants to provide special benefits and offers to patients who visit the 40 Palmetto Parkway facility.

“We can’t think of a better way to support the community than by supporting the efforts of Volunteers in Medicine,” says Dr. Patricia Shapiro. “SouthCoast Imaging Hilton Head will also donate one free mammogram to Volunteers in Medicine for every 10 screening 3D mammograms purchased in 2014.

3D Mammography increases breast cancer detection by 30-40%, decreases the need to callbacks and reduces the need for biopsies. 3D Mammography is now covered by Medicare.

SouthCoast Imaging Hilton Head also offers 64 slice CT, DEXA, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Image Guided Pain management injections, Pediatric Radiology and X-ray, with high quality, personal care at a lower cost. Board certified radiologists and registered technologies are on site and same day or next day appointments are available. A self-pay fee is available for those with high deductibles or no insurance.
