Follow on Google News | Car and Bike Show rolls on after fireColonial Courtyard at Clearfield to host 6th annual event on May 17
By: IntegraCare The sixth annual Leonard Street Car and Bike Show will be held on Saturday, May 17 at the circle located where the former Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield senior living community stood until a June 25 fire destroyed the building last year. “This is our sixth year and we’re excited to continue the tradition even though we’ve faced quite a bit of adversity since the last show,” said Sandy English, Director of Sales and Marketing at Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield. “We are eager to see which cars will participate in the show this year. It’s a lot of fun and it’s a very nice community event that raises money for a great cause.” All proceeds from the car show will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Registration for the event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon on May 17. Pre-registration may be done at www.leonardstreetcarandbikeshow.weebly.com. Cars and bikes may enter 17 different classes. Judging will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m. Last year more than 70 vehicles registered for the show and the event raised $1,500 for the Alzheimer’s Association through the $5 registration fee, a basket raffle, 50-50 tickets and concessions. “Every year the car show has gotten bigger and bigger,” said Candy Shomo, Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield Executive Director. “We’d hold it in the circle in front of our building. It will be held in the same place, even without the building being in place. It was always nice for our residents to see the vintage vehicles. That’s why we started the show six years ago, and that’s why we want to continue the tradition.” The fire-damaged Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield was demolished over the winter. Floor plans for the new building have been unveiled and a ground-breaking ceremony is expected to occur within the next few months. Even though the Courtyard residents won’t be on hand this year, English said residents of nearby Graystone Court and Leonard Court independent living apartments will be able to take in the show. End
