Even after surface-related multiple elimination (SRME), remnant diffracted multiples and spurious reflections are often present in data. The non-specular nature of the diffracted multiples can make it difficult for SRME to eliminate them. TASERTM is a post-SRME demultiple technique designed to eliminate these remnant diffracted multiples. Geotrace’s technique is based on the realization that diffractions have special kinematical characteristics that can be exploited to separate them from the primaries, thus eliminating them. Geotrace has already proven this technique successful on data provided by Lundin Norway AS in the Barents Sea.
