HOUSTON - May 6, 2014 - PRLog -- HOUSTON (May 6, 2014) - Geotrace Technologies Inc. (www.geotrace.com), an industry leader in high resolution E&P solutions, today announced its latest innovation, a pioneering technique to produce even clearer images by reducing remnant diffracted multiples called TASERTM (Targeted Apex Shifted Elimination Routine).

TASERTM is another Geotrace tool that aids drilling and exploration teams, allowing them to more safely and accurately identify subsea characteristics and make better-informed decisions that minimize risk and maximize value.

“By eliminating spurious reflections and diffracted multiples, TASERTM provides our clients with data that exhibits an unprecedented level of clarity, allowing them to drill and explore with greater certainty and efficiency,” said Jaime Stein, Geotrace’s Chief Geoscience Officer.

Even after surface-related multiple elimination (SRME), remnant diffracted multiples and spurious reflections are often present in data. The non-specular nature of the diffracted multiples can make it difficult for SRME to eliminate them. TASERTM is a post-SRME demultiple technique designed to eliminate these remnant diffracted multiples. Geotrace’s technique is based on the realization that diffractions have special kinematical characteristics that can be exploited to separate them from the primaries, thus eliminating them. Geotrace has already proven this technique successful on data provided by Lundin Norway AS in the Barents Sea.
