Azzurro Systems Integration Completes Capitol-TV Project in Providence, Rhode Island

Azzurro Systems Integration, the leading New York Metro Area provider of broadcast systems design, engineering and integration services, is pleased to announce their recent completion of work at the RI General Assembly Television Station - Capitol TV
NORTHVALE, N.J. - May 5, 2014 - PRLog -- The project consisted of the renovation of a 30 year old, standard definition, analog broadcast facility while remaining on-air.  The facility houses a total of five (5) control rooms – two (2) main control rooms for house and senate chamber sessions, and three (3) additional control rooms for sub-committee meetings.   The House & Senate’s main control rooms are outfitted with Sony HDC-P1 Cameras, Ross Cambotics Robotics, Ross Carbonite 2M Switchers and Ross Xpression Character Generators.  The three additional sub-committee control rooms are equipped with Sony BRC-H900 PTZ Cameras as well as Vaddio Camera Control Systems and Ross Carbonite C10 Switchers. Because of the distances between the control rooms and the chambers and sub-committee rooms, Azzurro SI also designed and installed a fiber optic infrastructure system throughout the 110 year old building to support these major HD upgrades.

"Working with Azzurro was easy and painless" said Derek Hayes, General Manager of Capitol Television "all issues were handled quickly and professionally; the team came in like gangbusters and left the place looking as if they were never here, except for leaving behind professionally equipped HD control rooms."

In addition to the fiber and equipment upgrades, Capitol TV is the first State house in the United States to utilize the Legislative Control System (LCS) by Ross.  Azzurro commissioned this system in the House and Senate’s two Main Control Rooms which takes data from the chambers’ International Roll-Call System and utilizes it to recognize the speaker credentials.  By integrating with the International Roll-Call System, the best camera angle, credentials and relevant lower third graphical overlay for the recognized speaker are automatically recalled and placed on the preset.  By selecting “take” on the LCS touchscreen, the system takes the preset to air via the Carbonite switcher.  The Ross Video LCS system provides a simple touch screen interface that allows a clean, attractive, network quality production which can be created and controlled by as little as one single operator.

With the additional three control rooms to support meetings in the sub-committee rooms, Rhode Island’s Capitol TV has the ability to stream five concurrent events live on the RI State House web site in addition to their dedicated channel on local MSO cable systems.
