By: PS Racing Sepang, Malaysia – To most people, the word ‘Malaysia’ With its 15 corners and 5.5kms length, the track is famous not only for hosting annual Formula One and other high-level racing events, but also for its notoriously finicky weather. This presents the ultimate challenge to drivers on this extremely technically challenging high speed circuit, which can be completely dry with sunshine on one half of the track with pouring rain on the other, on the very same lap. This weekend, May 9-11, the Sepang F1 Circuit will host Rounds 3,4 & 5 of the 2014 Asia Formula Renault Championship. Qualifying and Race One [Round 3] will take place on Friday, with Race Two [Round 4] and Race Three [Round 5] on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Leading the driver line up for PSR will be Maxx Ebenal of Canada, currently 3rd in points in AFR’s highest-level International Category. Joining him in International will be Abelardo Cuellar of Mexico, who is currently tied for 4th in points with American teammate Pete Olson. Olson will be sitting out the weekend due to funding issues but is aiming to continue the remainder of the season from next month’s Pan Delta Race Festival on June 20th, which will host Rounds 6&7 of the 14 Round, 6 weekend AFR Championship. Leading PS Racing’s charge in the Masters Class will be Guillaume Cunnington, who has gotten off to a fantastic start in 2014 with double wins in class for March’s Pan Delta Race Festival season opener weekend, and goes into the Sepang weekend with a strong points lead in his category. PSR teammate Sebastien Mailleux will join Cunnington in the Masters Class and aims to continue the steady improvement he demonstrated in March, while Neric Wei will represent PS Racing in the Asian Class and brings his strong Sepang experience in both Honda and Porsche touring car racing to the AFR grid. With over 15 drivers challenging each other on one of Asia’s ultimate circuits this weekend, as well as three races in total and limited practice time, and no drivers in the field having driven Formula Renault in Sepang [the last AFR Sepang race was 2008], the weekend will no doubt bring incredible excitement with the unpredictability of results and weather.
