CAMARILLO, Calif. - May 2, 2014 - PRLog -- (CAMARILLO, Calif.) - Zindagi Games Inc (http://www.zindagigames.com/)., a Camarillo-based video gaming company, has challenged three local charities, FOOD Share (http://www.foodshare.com/), Boys & Girls Club of Camarillo (http://www.bgccam.org/) and RAIN Transitional Living Center (http://raincommunities.org/), to each raise $25,000 before May 31 as part of its 2014 Zindagi $150,000 Challenge. In addition, Zindagi is encouraging other businesses to join in the effort with the intent being to rally Ventura County employers and their employees to “give where they live.”

Umrao Mayer and George Simmons, the principals of Zindagi Games, have agreed to match dollar for dollar raised—up to $75,000—by the three Ventura County nonprofits between now and the end of May. Having supported each charity individually in the past, Zindagi Games chose to collaborate with the three agencies this year in an effort to make a bigger impact and achieve greater results.

In addition to creating popular titles for the PlayStation®4 video gaming system, Zindagi is committed to influencing positive change within Ventura County. Zindagi’s hope is that its annual donation challenge will encourage other corporations to support local non-profits and ultimately, create a year-round cycle of generosity and giving.

“Zindagi is sharing their corporate giving philosophy and challenging others to follow suit,” said Bonnie Weigel, FOOD Share president and CEO. “We invite all Ventura County residents and businesses to be a part of the Zindagi $150,000 Challenge and know that by working together, we can make our community a better place to live.”

Donations to either of these charities for the Zindagi $150,000 Challenge can be made at http://www.foodshare.com/Donate/Zindagi%20Challenge.aspx.

About FOOD Share:

More than 35 years ago, eight citizens performed a good deed by distributing food to those who were in need underneath a Ventura bridge. The early philanthropic movement quickly formed into what is now Ventura County’s regional food bank, FOOD Share, which has grown from serving a few hundred hungry people per month to 74,500 people. Today, staff and volunteers distribute more than 10 million pounds of food annually from its distribution site; more than 160 partner agencies, which include neighborhood and church food distributions and soup kitchens; as well as hunger assistance programs. FOOD Share’s programs provide healthy nutrition and education to children, families and seniors, which include: KIDS Share, SENIOR Share, Nutrition Education, Community Market, SoCal Gas CARE Program, ART Share, and more. A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, FOOD Share is a member of the Feeding America network, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. About RAIN Transitional Living Center

RAIN Transitional Living Center has successfully served thousands of homeless Ventura County residents, almost half of them children, over the last decade in a safe, home-like environment.  RAIN TLC provides a full range of services such as meals, job search assistance, counseling, tutoring, transportation, and other vital services families need to attain permanent housing and long-term self-sufficiency.  It is a harsh reality, in these troubled economic times, that full-time employment does not insure against the possibility of homelessness, but over and over the story has been repeated - give someone a hand up and they will do the rest.  To learn more about RAIN TLC, visit www.raincommunities.org, find us on Facebook, or call (805) 389-3308.
