May 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Semper Fidelis America, Inc. and “Navy Mom Mary” will coordinate a Packing Party on Monday May 5, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. alongside local veterans groups and patriotic volunteers to donate items and ship supplies overseas to US Troops. The event, which will be held at the Legendary Why Not Lounge (230 W State Road 436, Altamonte Springs, FL  32714), will provide donations and care packages to US Marines deployed overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

We encourage you to join us at this worthy event with your donation items and join in to assist our volunteers with the packing.  It’s a Packing Party!

After the packing party we invite you to stay for the entertainment, provided by Ted Torres Martin with a tribute to Elvis Presley at 8:30 p.m.  (http://www.revisitedelvis.com/#!shows-and-news) Admission is only $5.

This year, we are packing food (non-perishable) household and personal items (non-breakable) items for the troops at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan.  Items will be shipped out immediately following the show for the benefit of a Marine Unit to the attention of Gunny Sergeant Bazzle, the nephew of a Navy Seabee Mike Gentz.

Mike states, “In 1965 I told my father I had joined the Navy.  He asked me what my rate I was going to be and I told him a Heavy Equipment Operator. He said “Not a Seabee!” and I said yes that's what the recruiter called it. I learned what a Seabee was in a big hurry.  I wound up doing a 13 month tour in Vietnam the 1st time and volunteered to go back for a second tour and an additional 9 months, so that maybe someone who was married and had children would not have to go. I came back on July 4th 1968 after “TET" the Chinese New Year.

Upon our return home to the US after 22 months serving in Vietnam, we were treated like dirt. From that moment on I promised I was going to do my part to remember our troops and show them that the old Guard will never let the new Guard be forgotten.  This Packing Party is just one small way to honor them. Please join us for this opportunity to show our troops how much they are appreciated.  Thank you all for your support.”  Mike Gentz, State of Florida First Vice Commander, Island X-4 Seabees.

A Packing Party is a great opportunity for the members of our community to show their support of our brave service men and women overseas”. Semper Fidelis is a veteran support group that shows pride in our troops and local veteran community.  Red, White and Blue runs through our veins, does it run through yours?” stated Navy Mom Mary, volunteer and host.

Event organizers are proud to welcome a volunteer “packer” Col. David A Smith, USMC (Ret.) candidate for US Congress 7th district.

Please offer your support and encouragement in the form of letters and cards or bring your donation items with you to this event.  Anyone interested or a member of the press should contact Laura Burk at laura@gameplanmedia.info (407) 900-1915.
