Remaining half of the brother-sister team ‘Magkapatid’ sheds more than 50% of original weight

QUEZON CITY, Philippines - May 2, 2014 - PRLog -- After losing a total of 154 pounds or 52.56% of his initial weight, Bryan Castillo was hailed the newest Pinoy Biggest Loser during the final weigh-in of “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles” last Saturday, April 26) which aired via The Filipino Channel (TFC) worldwide (Sunday, April 27 in Australia, Guam and New Zealand).

From 293 pounds, Castillo now weighs 139 pounds.  He has set the highest weight loss record percentage against his co-finalists, Kayen Lazaro, Francis Asis, and Osie “Mommy Osie” Nebreja which made him win the grand prize of P1 Million, P100,000 worth of sporting goods and accessories, a business franchise package, home appliance showcase, and a lifetime gym membership.

“Everything that is happening has not sunk in yet.  I am very happy to get the title.  My only wish was to make my family happy.  This is what God gave me,” Castillo said.  “Now I am standing here in front of you without fears.  I will not look back.  I am looking forward to a better future and a better Bryan,” he added.

Castillo was part of Team Magkapatid with his sister Ikya Castillo, who got eliminated during the show’s tenth weigh-in.  They have recorded the highest number of challenge wins in the show’s major challenges.

Working and dedicated mom, Kayen Lazaro was named the first runner-up after weighing a total loss percentage of 50.52% or 145 pounds from her original weight of 287 pounds.  Lazaro brought home P500,000.

Bagong Bigateam’s Francis Asis and Osie Nebreja were declared second and third runners-up with weight loss percentages of 48.85% and 47.50%, respectively.  Because they were the only pair to make it to the finale, their cash prizes of P300,000 and P200,000 were doubled.

Asis, the season’s youngest contestant, shed 149 pounds to weigh 156 pounds from his original weight of 305 pounds - also the season’s biggest weight – while 45-year old Mommy Osie lost a total of 133 pounds to weigh 147 pounds from her original weight of 280 pounds.

Runners-up were also awarded one-year gym membership and a home appliance showcase.

Eliminated contestants Ikya Castillo, Carl Lazaro (husband of Kayen), Ralph and Christian Du, Pat Martinez and Cathy Bautista, and Tin and Dianne Obsina were also present to flaunt their slimmer figures at the grand finale.

For the first time in the history of the global TV franchise, the contestants in “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles” did not use any gym equipment to lose weight.  Trained by fitness coaches and real-life partners, Jim and Toni Saret, the show’s contestants lost a total record of 1,421 pounds before the weekend’s final weigh-in.
