BALTIMORE - April 30, 2014 - PRLog -- The Center for Urban Families (CFUF) is announcing the kick-off of its $1.5 million Fund for Our Future campaign in recognition of its 15th anniversary as one of Baltimore’s leading human services organizations. The campaign will take place over the next 15 months and will end on July 31, 2015.  Proceeds from the campaign will be divided into three equal parts - earmarked for the funding of existing programs, program expansion and support of the organization’s future infrastructure needs.

Underpinning the campaign is a $1.5 million pool of matching-gift funds that have already been committed by several existing supporters of the organization who prefer to remain anonymous. Funds from this matching-gift pool will be used to provide a dollar-for-dollar match to any donations that are received from individuals between December 31, 2013 and the end of the campaign. The Fund for Our Future campaign seeks committed funds of $3.0 million or more by July 31, 2015.

CFUF’s mission is to strengthen urban communities by helping fathers and families achieve stability and economic success. Since 1999, CFUF has helped over 27,000 vulnerable Baltimoreans receive services from the organization’s various programs. CFUF provides the bridge that many need to attain stability, while being a national leader on responsible fatherhood, workforce development, strengthening urban families and black male achievement.

As a testament to the organization’s significant work and its role in the national conversation related to black male achievement, President Barack Obama visited CFUF on May 17, 2013 during a day-long tour of Baltimore that focused on middle class jobs and economic opportunities. During the visit, President Obama met with CFUF founder and CEO Joe Jones, board chairman and Warnock Family Foundation founder David Warnock, key employer partners, and graduates of CFUF’s workforce development and fatherhood programs.  On February 27, 2014, Joe Jones was invited to the White House to participate in a discussion with President Obama about his recently announced "My Brother's Keeper" initiative that will support boys and young men of color by urging foundations and businesses to claim a stake in their success.

Interested donors are encouraged to contact CFUF’s Director of Philanthropy, Roslyn Hannibal-Booker, at 410-246-1401 or rbooker@cfuf.org.
