RCS Shows is CVD’s new carnival and midway operator. Its rides can be found at the Los Angeles County Fair and Coachella Music Festival as well as other large festivals around the western U.S. “They’ll be bringing a 10 story Ferris wheel and rides that test the g-force limit,” says Frank Akrey, CVD president. “We’re thrilled to have Cammack Shows at CVD. They are the best of the best.”

Both riders will stay after each show to sign autographs and have their pictures taken with festivalgoers.

Now in its second year, the CVD Outhouse Races will take place on Saturday, May 10 at 4:00 p.m. Last year, the race was a huge hit with the crowd," says Chris dePalma, outhouse race chairperson. "Entrants were very creative with their outhouse designs. The winner was a tribute to Elvis. Outhouse names included ‘Gotta Go,’ ‘Ye Olde John’ and ‘Poop Coupe.’”

The Emporium will also have a photo booth area complete with western style clothing. “Dru Jeppe, president of Reeds, is this year’s CVD grand marshal,” says Akrey. “Dru is a third generation in the Reed’s family business. The family has been a strong supporter of CVD since the early 1960s.”

Other happenings at CVD include drone demonstrations courtesy of Marty’s Hobbies at 2:30 on Saturday and Sunday (right after the freestyle motocross demonstration) and rescued animals from the Wildlife Waystation. “The animals will be visiting on Saturday and Sunday,” says Mary Catherine McBride, CVD general chair. “It’s a way to raise awareness of this wonderful nonprofit group that has rescued thousands of animals, including lions and tigers, over the years.” The Waystation will hold a fundraising raffle with the grand prize being a private dinner and tour of the Waystation and its animals.

More than two dozen nonprofit groups take part in CVD. For many, it is their biggest fundraiser of the year. “We’re asking all festival goers to make sure to visit the nonprofit-run food and game booths,” says McBride. “It’s an opportunity to really make an impact.”

The Lucy Pet Foundation is the nonprofit partner for this year’s Conejo Valley Days. The foundation spays and neuters dogs and cats and conducts pet adoptions with the ultimate goal of having all animal shelter be “no kill” shelters. The foundation will have a booth at CVD.
