Daniel Levine: Trends from an unexpected source

The trends expert notes the rise of trends from a land-locked Asian nation
NEW YORK - April 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Trends expert and keynote speaker Daniel Levine is tracking an unlikely incubator for several worldwide trends. The Himalayan nation of Bhutan is the source of this intrigue.

“As a nation of only 750,000 people and with minimal development, Bhutan seems unlikely to be progressive,” says trends expert Daniel Levine. “However, not all trends have to be driven by technology and new ideas.”

Bhutan is taking several unique and rather groundbreaking steps as a nation. First, the country has instituted a Gross National Happiness Index to measure national wealth. Second, Bhutan is well on its way to becoming the world’s first totally organic county. These ideas reflect the views of the nation’s Buddhist minority and their commitment to simple, environmentally-friendly lifestyles. Now, both ideas are catching on elsewhere.

“Bhutan is developing several unique ideas,” says trends expert Daniel Levine. “These ideas reflect their religious beliefs and traditional values. This is a valuable lesson for more developed locations because it shows that not all ideas have to be developed for new technologies and new ideas.”
