Honda Reveals 2015 Civic Type R Concept
The 2015 Civic Type R Concept car was unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
The Civic Type R has been teased to drivers for a long time now, and while this is not the official production model, it is a thinly-veiled concept car that should bear a striking resemblance to the final product.
Styled aggressively and taking ideas from Honda's World Touring Car Championship model, the Civic Type R has a design that's linked pretty heavily toward performance, offering real benefits to drivers. The rear spoiler, for instance, has been angled to provide a greater downforce on the vehicle while the grilles have been enlarged for improved air intake.
Critics at Motor Authority recently spent some time behind the wheel of the prototype vehicle and described it as “absolutely brilliant,” praising its 2.0L four-cylinder engine and predicting outputs as high as 280 hp.
While it may not seem like the best news to hear that an incredible vehicle like the Civic Type R is not coming to the area, the fact is that much of its technology includes the kind of features that many expect to see move over to the CR-Z, Honda's hybrid sports car. Don't be surprised if the next generation CR-Z has some of the features profiled here on this special Civic.
In the meantime, the 2014 Honda CR-Z is easily one of the only vehicles of its kind, offering drivers a two-seater sports car experience with the power and style they expect while featuring a hybrid engine under the hood.
