-- The Boston Bruins completed a 4-1 series win against the Detroit Red Wings to advance to the second round of the 2013-14 NHL Playoffs where they'll meet the Montreal Canadiens. The Canadiens were the first team to advance to the playoffs with a 4-0 sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Bruins and Canadiens will meet in the playoffs for the 34th time. Boston holds home ice advantage through the entire NHL playoffs because they secured the best overall record in the NHL. Games 1 and 2 will be in Boston, games 3 and 4 in Montreal, game 5 (if nec.) will be in Boston, game 6 (if nec.) will be in Montreal and game 7 (if nec.) will be in Boston.
The Bruins will meet up with a well rested Canadiens team that clinched a 2nd round spot back on Tue, April 22nd. The Bruins secured their spot on Saturday, April 26th. However, the Boston Bruins will be armed with a Vezina trophy favorite (best goaltender award), Tuukka Rask, 4 lines performing well and 3 excellent defensive pairs (not to mention, the NHL's top backup goalie this season).
