Medal Of Honor Recipient And Local Hero

Staff Sergeant Ty Carter

Meets-up With Operation Wounded Minds

To Speak About Post Traumatic Stress.

Antioch, CA (April 25) – Operation Wounded Minds (OWM) Co-Founder Mark Carter will welcome his son and local hero Staff Sergeant Ty Carter back home to the bay area on Friday at a barbecue with local veterans, family members and supporters.

A recipient of the Medal of Honor for bravery Staff Sergeant Carter was honored at the White House last August. Carter sees this as an opportunity to make a difference, he took another risk and during his speech for accepting the highest honor given to a soldier,  he spoke about his PTS from his point of view and asked the President and the nation to be aware that Post Traumatic Stress is real and soldiers returning home are losing this battle and don’t have too.

The VA estimates that 22 veterans die by suicide every single day.

Operation Wounded Minds Founder Dwayne Jones will speak Friday about the organizations plans locally for the month of May in preparation for Memorial Day Weekend to kick-off June PTSD Awareness Month for our Nation.

His question, “What would the government do, what would the public demand,  if foreign fighters came to our soil and killed 22 soldiers a day.?”  For the soldiers who die, there is no difference.  They need our support.

The Barbecue is the first of many events planned locally by Operation Wounded Minds over the next 60 days to build momentum and critical mass around PTS. Jones believes once critical mass occurs then grace intercedes, angels appear and healing can begin.

This is Carter’s first opportunity to speak locally to his community about Post Traumatic Stress and has agreed speak about PTS along with Operation Wounded Minds Founder at a press event at the 3pm barbecue. Not to endorse but encourage the San Francisco Bay area, and his community to join Operation Wounded Minds and help this organization in its start-up phase.

“This is where the world watches start-ups become Google, Apple, Yahoo, Facebook and Twitter Jones has said.. “These companies are going to be asked by Operation Wounded Minds to give back and help this non-profit start-up make a difference not just locally, but nationally for Veterans and their families.

After being recognized for his bravery and honored at the White House, Sergeant Carter has been on a mission for veterans across the country. And once again Carter is our hero, saving the lives of other soldiers with the invisible wounds from PTS.

As the tragic losses mount, our nation has realized the need for new organizations similar to Operation Wounded Minds to bridge the gaps for veterans, military service members, and their families. Operation Wounded Minds founders believe we cannot have enough local non-profits set up and organized to care for their wounded, whether these wounds are visible or invisible.

On February 17th at the Crosses of Lafayette Operation Wounded Minds was launched.

Please visit the web site at www.OperationWoundedMinds.org to view the launch video with Founder, Dwayne Jones, co-founder Mark Carter and local coordinator and founder of the Crosses of Lafayette, Jeff Heaton.

The Warrior Watch Riders of Northern California will arrive with Staff Sergeant Ty Carter at 2pm at his father’s home for the Barbecue and welcoming of our local hero for one of many upcoming events with this soldier.

At 3pm Mark Carter, Co-Founder of OWM will introduce his son who will speak about what he has been doing since leaving the White House, on his new mission.

Jones will follow Staff Sergeant Carter’s talk and afterwards the press will be given an opportunity to ask questions of all 3 men as they are embarking on the same mission to stop the destructive effects of the trauma and the latent effects of PTS for our young soldiers returning from war.
