Local Company Gears Up For Annual Fund Raiser For Old Friends Equine

LubriSynHA’s Bourbon & Brews in the Bluegrass

         The LubriSynHA Family of Products and ReBorne, the Simpsonville based natural supplement companies, have announced that they will host the 2^ndBourbon & Brews in the BluegrassOld Friends Derby Party. This is a private charity event in which all proceeds will be donated to Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Facility and it will take place on Sunday, April 27 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. The event will take place at the home of LubriSynHA Founder, Dr. Steven Allday and his wife Kimberly.

         Old Friends Equine, who was founded by Michael Blowen, over ten years ago, has made a vow to give retired thoroughbreds a decent retirement in their later years. Old Friends Equine is a non-profit 501c3 organization and is the provider for over 125 horses. The organization relies on donations and fund raising to maintain the care for the animals.

Some notable horses who are housed at Old Friends are Prized, the winner of the 1989 Breeders Cup Turf Mile, Dinard, who was one of the favorites for the Kentucky Derby in 1989, Gulch the Eclipse Award Sprint champ in 1988 and Commentator, the three time winner of the Whitney Stakes at Saratoga.

         Last year, Dr. Steven Allday and his wife Kim opened their home in Shelbyville for an invitation only fundraiser, which was a big success and generated funds for the organization. This year is no different as the Allday family along with their company Halstrum,LLC, have set April 27^th, 2014 aside to help the retired thoroughbreds once again.  The party will have a silent and live auction and live entertainment by The Bottom Sop and Burning Caravan.

         Some key items going up for auction are a painting of Lava Man, several unique pieces of art from England, and an Elite 8 basketball signed by non-other than Coach John Calapari.

         Several notable personalities in the horseracing industry showed up last year such as Jockey Gary Stevens, Winstar’s Elliot Walden, Trainers Todd Pletcher and Doug O’Neill and even retired jockey Pat Day came by to support this valiant cause.
