Author Valerie Pfundstein to Visit Seminole Springs Elementary School

DEER PARK, N.Y. - April 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Valerie Pfundstein, author of award-winning Veterans:  Heroes in Our Neighborhood will be visiting the students of Seminole Springs Elementary School (Eustis, Florida) on Friday, May 2 to share her book and discuss the importance of honoring the men and women who once bravely served our country and now humbly serve in our communities - our veterans.

“Few of us will ever witness an act of valor, yet we walk among heroes who perform them every day—not in military uniform or wearing their medals, but while serving our communities as teachers, firefighters, mail carriers. Veterans are our neighbors, family, and friends,” the author noted.

Veterans:  Heroes in Our Neighborhood is a rhyming picture book that introduces children to the veteran heroes that may live in their neighborhood and reminds all of us to appreciate the service that these men and women gave to our great country.  It was named a Mom's Choice Awards® Distinguished Honoree, among the best in family-friendly media, products and services bestowing upon it a Gold award for Children's Picture Books: Poetry.

ABOUT VALERIE PFUNDSTEIN:

Valerie Pfundstein is a Girl Scout Leader, Boy Scout Venturing Crew Advisor, and mother of three children.  She lives with her husband, Paul, a FDNY firefighter, and their family in Deer Park, NY.  Pfundstein is also a former NYS teacher whose grandfather served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and modeled a sense of patriotism that she’s always felt compelled to share.  “I’m honored to have the opportunity to incorporate my love of storytelling with my love for country. There are so many patriots who are true heroes, in every sense of the word, who serve and humbly return to our communities. We should recognize and show our appreciation for their selfless service. I hope this book will help do that.”
