#1 Ranked Oakland Soldiers, Tip Off EYBL Weekend in Sacramento with Community Service

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - April 24, 2014 - PRLog -- The Oakland Soldiers are no mystery to the basketball world.  The 2014 team is heavily stacked and #1 on numerous rankings across the nation. The Nike endorsed team begins the EYBL circuit in Sacramento, CA.  This upcoming weekend, the Oakland Soldiers Team will partner with Sacramento High School, which was founded by Mayor Kevin Johnson.  The team will be cleaning up the streets around Sacramento High School amongst other tasks including gardening.

The Oakland Soldier Program promotes that basketball is more than a game.  They take pride in making sure that their players understand the importance of academics, community service, time management, mental health, social media perception, and obtaining team and individual goals.  It is a priority of the organization to implement the idea of  “giving back” to the community through acts of service.

This weekend’s NCAA certified event is being held at Jackson Sports Academy, in McClellan Park in the Sacramento Area.  There, it will host the 40 Nike EYBL teams, including the Oakland Soldiers (Game schedule can be found at www.NikeEYB.com).  Executive Director, Mark Olivier, built a talented 17u elite team as usual.  The 2014 team consist of elite prospects: Stephen Zimmerman (7’0), Ivan Rabb (6’11), Chimezie Metu (6’9), Rex Pflueger (6’6), Oscar Frayer (6’6), Tyrell Alcorn (6’2), Maxx Hazzard (6’0), and Bernard Ward (6’0).  The development of this team is highly anticipated by many basketball fans across the country.
