Florida Actor Bryan Hibbard Wants to Guest Star on FX TV’s Hit Show “Justified”

A producer, director and an actor dress up to crash one on the hottest shows on TV. Since there are no rules in Hollywood the sky's the limit and anything could happen for this team.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - April 23, 2014 - PRLog -- “I’ve been acting for 10 years,” Bryan Hibbard said. The young actor, like millions before him, is Hollywood-bound. He’s prepared himself by watching thousands of hours of movies and TV, reading, doing dozens of stage plays and attending college. “I’ve dreamed of becoming a Hollywood actor my entire life. I was always that little boy acting out whatever he just saw on TV.” Hibbard is an illustrator, woodworker and a graduate of Florida A&M University at Tallahassee with a degree in Architecture. “I earned a college degree to prove that I have what it takes to finish any job that’s given to me,” he said. The job Hibbard wants now is a recurring role on the FX Network hit TV show “Justified.”

“Justified” stars Timothy Olyphant as U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens in a drama developed by Executive Producer Graham Yost. Givens is a Harlan County, Kentucky native who is transferred from Florida against his wishes back to his old stomping grounds. “I’ve watched and studied “Justified” with my friend Ricky Wilson since the second season,” Hibbard admits. “It’s way cool. I see myself performing with actors Timothy Olyphant, Erica Tazel, Nick Searcy, Walton Goggins and others. The villains make the show pop.” And now because of a phone call Hibbard has a chance to be seen by the producers of “Justified.”

“A Facebook friend called me and asked if I’d talk with his nephew about coming out to Hollywood,” Lovelace Lee III said. He's a producer in Hollywood working to develop a slate of films and TV. As it happened, Hibbard was the nephew in question. Once Hibbard and Lee discovered they were both fans of “Justified,” the producer began to hatch a plan. “I liked Bryan right away,” Lee added. “He’s smart, attentive and asks the questions that will lead him to become a star. I couldn’t wait to work with Bryan.” And Lee isn’t waiting. He quickly assessed Hibbard’s good looks, distinctive southern accent, acting experience and strong, family work ethic. “I write every day and I wanted to write for this kid,” Lee said.

“Lovelace treats me like he’s my uncle in the business,” Hibbard said. “I can ask him anything and know that I’ll get an honest answer based on his experience. He’s the type of producer with whom I want to work.” Lee had been scratching his head to come up with a way to get the attention of the producers of “Justified.” “I chose to create a character for “Justified” rather than write a spec script that might not get read,” he said. “By creating a character, Mr. Yost gets to see Bryan up close and personal in his element.” Lee dreamed up the crystal meth-dealing Bobby Joe Starkey and began writing for his character. Days later he shared the script with Hibbard and director Wilson. In a text message to his young actor Lee said, “I want you to become Bobby Joe Starkey.” Bryan’s immediate text reply was “Yes, sir!”

“Man I gotta tell you, when Ricky and I first read “Meet Bobby Joe Starkey,” We both got goose bumps. It was a chilling and authentic-sounding monologue,” said Hibbard. “Lovelace has taken a great leap of faith to thrust me into one of Hollywood’s hottest TV shows. This could be my breakthrough role!” In the five-minute monologue Hibbard coolly portrays trash-talking Bobby Joe Starkey, Harlan County, Kentucky’s newest crime badass. Starkey tells everyone how little he thinks of the crime bosses that came before him--and even calls out U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens.

The film was shot, directed and edited by Wilson. Fred Croon provided sound. Production stills were done by Karen Jimenez and Nicki Hibbard. “Meet Bobby Joe Starkey” has been posted to YouTube and is available through this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvBEphG-E_8
