Was This the Least-Attractive Job Offer of 2014?
Eye Lips Face (e.l.f. cosmetics) asked for the moon from applicants for a part-time job in February but offered little in return.
The posting, on the Direct Marketing News website in February, included a “brief” summary of the qualifications and duties of the person who would assist e.l.f.'s creative director. The position was part-time with an opportunity for full-time after a 6 month review.
All applicants must be qualified makeup artists with corporate experience
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, In-Design, and Illustrator
Writing content for weekly newsletter
Creating how-tos and additional content for our beauty blog
Quality control and testing products
Reviewing packaging dyelines
Running errands and assisting in monthly accounting of receipts
“I use the DMN website for client work and just happened to see this posting,” said Mike Devaney a Seattle-based copywriter. “The word “e.l.f.” caught my eye but I was astonished when I read the description. They were trying to hire one poor soul for the position of at least three. My condolences for whomever “won” the job!”
“I'm only surprised they didn't include “toilet cleaning experience” in the qualifications.”
The part-time job was set to start on April 1st, with training beginning in mid-March. The job posting is no longer active.
