Tecla's K-9 Academy Expanding into 13,000 Square Foot Facility

ELKRIDGE, Md. - April 17, 2014 - PRLog -- Tecla's K-9 Academy will open their second training, daycare and boarding center in a 13,000 square foot facility located at 7111 Dorsey Run Rd. in Elkridge, MD on June 1, 2014. Their new home will give Tecla's K-9 Academy much needed additional space, and the state of the art design will make it one of the most well-appointed dog training and daycare centers in the nation. The location is close to several commuter routes, making it highly convenient for busy professionals who only give their dog the best care available.

The Elkridge facility will be Tecla’s K-9 Academy’s second location. Major business growth in the last four years and ever-increasing demand for Tecla Walton’s expertise has dictated the need to expand beyond their original Ellicott City location. With two locations to meet Maryland dog owner’s training, daycare and boarding needs, Tecla and her team will be able to deliver on their top objective: to reach as many dogs and their owners as possible.

Ms. Walton shared her thoughts on the new facility and what it means to her: “Our number one priority has always been to help dogs and their owners and with the addition of our second location we will be able to do this on an even larger scale. I see so many people come in with their dogs after being released from another daycare because their dog is “unsociable” or after seeing two or three other trainers without success and we turn these dogs around. It is a beautiful thing to be a part of these transformations and I am excited that my team and I will be able to reach out to more of the people and dogs that need our help.”

Since opening her business over five years ago, Tecla has made it her mission to train dogs and people using her unique blended training methodology which incorporates positive and traditional techniques. Her blended approach has yielded incredible results and has ultimately saved the lives of hundreds of dogs, from rescue dogs that may have otherwise been forgotten to dogs with such severe behavioral problems that other seasoned trainers couldn’t help them.

The new facility will offer the plush comforts in a safe and clean setting that every dog owner wants for their K9 friend, including custom built kennels and boarding suites made from the finest fiber reinforced composite materials available. The training and boarding areas have separate climate controls, and the entire facility is equipped with top of the line air filtration systems, so owners can be confident their pets are enjoying their home away from home in a comfortable and healthy environment. The training rooms are equipped with a sound system so trainers can be heard clearly during instruction, and boarding dogs can also enjoy soothing music during their stay. All floors in the facility are covered with the highest grade epoxy available, which is exceptional for sanitary control and will keep the daycare dogs in a good play atmosphere. The main training room floor is covered with agility matting. Two private training rooms will also be available to those who want or need to work with a trainer in a closed setting. A 1200 sq. ft. fenced off space outside the building provides ample space for potty walks. And just like in the Ellicott City facility, dogs and puppies will have separate daycare rooms so that dogs play with dogs, and pups with pups—an important and oft overlooked key to proper socialization.

Retail offerings will also be available at the new Tecla’s K-9 Academy, with several products being offered that have been hand-picked by Tecla Walton and her staff. The retail boutique will sell items such as their favorite leashes, collars, dog food and treats, toys, and Tecla’s K-9 Academy gear.

Tecla and her team are excited to open the new facility on June 1, giving them the chance to help many more dogs and also help their owners understand the connection between obedience and relationship.
