Las Cruces Beauty School Student's Attitude and Hair Entry Blossom After Hair Show Competition

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - April 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Both a cosmetology student and her entry at a regional hair show blossomed at the Educational Forum in Fort Worth, Texas. Fabrae Tafoya, a cosmetology student at Olympian University, 1460 Missouri Ave in Las Cruces received 3^rd place in the recent fantasy hair competition with her cherry blossom entry.

    However, Dora Borunda, the school’s director and Phase 2 instructor said Tafoya blossomed as a student as well after placing in the highly-acclaimed student hair show.

    “Fabrae has a lot of natural talent, but her confidence didn’t match her ability,” said Borunda. “She had started and stopped cosmetology school before and when she reentered our program I told her she absolutely needed to compete in the student hair competition in Fort Worth, Texas. Competing boosted her enthusiasm, and after she won 3^rd place she literally blossomed as a cosmetology student and stylist. Since then she has graduated, is working at a local salon and is very happy.”

    Tafoya’s entry was a mannequin head disguised as a blossoming cherry tree with wispy, fuchsia blossoms, branches made from wire wrapped in chestnut-colored hair as well as makeup that completed the Japanese cherry tree-inspired look.

    The contestants in the fantasy category were encouraged to pull out the stops on their themed entry to create a hair and makeup idea on a mannequin that would wow the judges, spectators and fellow students.  Each entry was judged based on creativity, originality, innovation, color and theme.
