April 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Hyundai’s commitment to driver and passenger safety continues to be prevalent as the new 2014 Hyundai Veloster has earned a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The 2014 Veloster received a four-star rating in front and rollover crash tests while it received five stars in the side crash test. This is the first time that this Hyundai model has been tested under the NHTSA’s new tougher crash tests.

Shaffer Hyundai in Merrillville is proud to offer a full selection of the latest Hyundai models, including the new Veloster and will be glad to explain why it holds a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA.

The 2014 Hyundai Veloster comes fully equipped with a vast array of safety features designed to keep drivers and passengers safe while in this Hyundai vehicle. The Torque Vectoring Control system, available on the Turbo and Turbo R-Spec, assists by monitoring driving conditions and helps improve safety when taking turns.

The Traction Control System works together with Electronic Stability Control, limiting the amount of power transferred to the tires and applies brakes when necessary, helping to eliminate wheelspin.

The new Veloster’s Vehicle Stability Management system takes all of the individual systems and creates one that is designed to actively keep you safe and help you avoid accidents. Part of the VSM system, the Electronic Stability Control system uses sensors that help drivers stay on course. ESC will slow down the wheels if necessary to redirect the car and put it back on course.

Four disc brakes, an Anti-Lock Braking System, and Electronic Brake-force Distribution are all part of the 2014 Veloster’s braking package. The ABS system helps to prevent wheels from locking up and assists in allowing drivers to maintain control when stopping. Should an emergency braking situation arise, Brake Assist delivers maximum braking force. Other safety features include six airbags, a rearview camera, and daytime running lights.
