NAMIWalk SF Bay 2014 Team Captain and Community Leader Kick-Off Luncheon April 16th

DANVILLE, Calif. - April 14, 2014 - PRLog -- WHO:      San Francisco Bay Area National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) NAMIWalk Team Captains, Sponsors and Community Leaders join NAMI affiliate volunteers from  Alameda County, Alameda County South, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Solano counties. Walk-team captains, sponsors and community minded leaders are encouraged to attend the free luncheon to learn about the many leadership opportunities available. Walk-team captains help sign-up teams for the 2014 NAMIWalk San Francisco Bay Area on May 31^st in Golden Gate Park. Key luncheon speaker is Rashad Eady, Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Chair.

WHAT:       2014 NAMIWalk SF Bay Area Team Captain and Community Leader Kick-Off Luncheon

WHEN:      April 16, 2014, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

COST:       There is no cost for the April 16th Kick-off luncheon or registration fee for the 2014 NAMIWalk SF Bay Area on May 31st, which is primarily funded by sponsor donations. Team-captains and walkers are encouraged to collect donations from family members, friends, co-workers and business associates.  All participants raising $100 or more will receive a NAMIWalks event T-shirt.

WHY:          NAMIWalks will be held in over 80 communities nationwide during May -- National Mental Health Month, established in 1949. The Kick-off luncheon is primarily geared to community leaders, walk-team captains and those interested in creating a walk-team for the 2014 NAMIWalk SF Bay Area on May 31^st in Golden Gate Park’s Lindley Meadow. Interested parties are encouraged to attend the luncheon to learn about the 2014 goals and obtain information, printed materials and all the tools needed to create team success. Walk funds raised help underwrite and  support much-needed mental health programs provided as a free public service by nine Bay Area NAMI affiliates in Alameda, Alameda County South, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz and Solano counties. Ninety percent (90%) of the donations stay within the county of each registered walker.
