Follow on Google News | Newhaven Court at Lindwood Spotlights VolunteersFrom Bingo to art therapy to religious services, volunteers assist seniors
By: IntegraCare When the calendar turns to April, many people think about spring weather, a new baseball season or the first day of trout fishing. The team at Newhaven Court at Lindwood highlights April’s status as National Volunteer Month by thanking the many volunteers who add to the residents’ quality of life on a daily basis. “Our volunteers from the community help in such a variety of ways,” said Jodi Wood, IntegraCare Regional Activities Director. “Volunteers assist with our Rosary groups. Volunteers provide Catholic Services every Sunday and Protestant Services every Wednesday, as well as Bible Study and Art Therapy.” “Volunteers are involved in our Bingo, Pokeno and Jingo activities,” Volunteers were in the spotlight during National Volunteer Week (April 6-12) and will be recognized during a luncheon at Newhaven Court at Lindwood on April 16. Wood pointed to the dedication and efforts of one volunteer as an example of the spirit of volunteerism at the community. Rose Butler, 88, has resided at Newhaven Court at Lindwood since 2012. “If I need anything, Rose is right there to help me,” Wood said. “Rose does Bingo on Wednesday nights with our residents. She is a volunteer in our Memory Care Neighborhood. She is part of Christian devotions twice a week and also assists with the community’s programming.” Volunteers such as Rose Butler are an integral part of what makes IntegraCare communities such as Newhaven Court at Lindwood special. Volunteers also have much to gain. “I have met some very sweet ladies that I have come to love,” Butler said. “I can’t say enough about the staff. They are so kind and loving and helpful.” End
