Gov't New: Sylvia Burwell to Replace Kathleen Sebelius at HHS

April 11, 2014 - PRLog -- At the Department of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius has decided to step down as secretary of the agency.

She led HHS for five years and will be succeeded by Office of Management and Budget Director Sylvia Mathews Burwell.

Prior to HHS, Sebelius served as governor of Kansas for two terms from 2003-2009 and held the role of state insurance commissioner for a decade.

Burwell previously served as OMB’s deputy director and chief of staff to the Treasury secretary.

Burwell also led the Wal-Mart Foundation as president before being confirmed by the Senate to her current OMB role.
