Follow on Google News | ID Me Bands Releases Its Lupus Band in Support of Lupus Awareness MonthBy: ID Me Bands The company will be donating 50 percent of its proceeds generated from the sale of this specific band to the Lupus Foundation of America. Co-owner Nicole Reeder said this initiative is close to her heart because her sister was diagnosed with lupus more than 10 years ago. “She was forced to move to Colorado to help manage the disease,” Reeder said. “Our company can help us all band together to help raise more funds for the Lupus Foundation of America.” The lupus band bears a purple butterfly and the words “Lupus Awareness,” “hope, love, cure” along with a purple ribbon. Purple is the official color used by the lupus community. Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body including skin, joints and/or organs, according to the Lupus Foundation of America’s website. More than 1.5 million Americans have lupus. More than 16,000 new cases of lupus are diagnosed each year in the U.S. Women of color and of childbearing age are most likely to develop the disease. ID Me Bands invites Lupus organizations and supporters around the country to use its lupus band as their purple item of the month. It not only helps prevent the spread of saliva-transmitted diseases such as meningitis and mononucleosis but also is a great marketing tool for lupus awareness. About ID Me Bands ID Me Bands is a Memphis-based company that was launched in 2012 by a group of people wanting to create a cool-looking band that could serve a purpose as well. Their bands are the first practical bottle marker for athletic environments. Bands come in three distinct band types: number series bands that feature numbers (00 to 99) prominently on a band, sports bands boldly feature the ball of a specific sport (e.g. football, basketball, baseball, etc.) and custom bands distinctly feature the logo and name of an organization, company, team or school. Their mission is to increase public health and safety and also revolutionize and reinvigorate the advertising and motivational wristband industry by blending innovative art concepts with purpose and function. Their motto speaks to the heart of preventing the spread of disease through the sharing of sports drinks and water bottles. Know which one is yours. End
