SEATTLE - April 8, 2014 - PRLog -- SummerSkin, a line of classic, stylish clothes with sun protection built-in, is thrilled to announce the arrival of its collection at Shine, the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance’s unique cancer specialty store. Founded by a melanoma survivor, SummerSkin helps increase awareness of the importance of sun protection, providing Shine shoppers with an opportunity to be sun smart without sacrificing fashion. Items available in the Shine boutique include SummerSkin’s Endless Summer Scarf, Raglan and Dolman tops, Palazzo Pants, Wrap Dress and Cardigan – for easy day-to-night, casual-to-chic fashion. All proceeds help support vital SCCA Patient and Family programs.

“We are so honored to have an opportunity to work together with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, which is doing so much to treat cancer patients as well as raise critical awareness about cancer prevention, which is directly aligned with our own mission,” said Summer Kramer, PharmD and founder of SummerSkin. “As a part of the Shine store, we’re thrilled to have a chance not only to give more people access to sun-protected products, but also help directly support the SCCA’s incredible programs and services.”

Summer was diagnosed with melanoma in her mid-20s and found that the only sun-protective clothing available at the time was activewear or chemical-infused clothing that didn’t really match her style or everyday needs.  So she created SummerSkin - the first line of its kind to specifically focus on fashionable sun-protective UPF clothing for everyday wear.  Made in the USA, SummerSkin’s signature products are crafted out of luxurious high-end imported fabrics that naturally protect the skin from the sun’s harmful rays, while still allowing for maximum comfort, style, and breathability.

“Our goal with everyone that walks in through our door is to provide a comfortable, helpful shopping experience tailored to the needs of a patient, a loved one, or a local resident, since Shine is open to the public,” said Eileen Hood, co-manager of Shine.

“We love what (founder) Summer is doing with SummerSkin, and think our shoppers will be thrilled to discover that this collection not only matches their personal style, but also their need to omnsq proactively protect themselves from the sun,” added Carrie Jacobsen, co-manager of Shine.

Shine, which opened last September and is open to the public, offers oncological items including post-surgical clothing, compression garments, mastectomy bras, and wigs, as well as salon services and gifts including home decor, jewelry, cookbooks and more.

The store is located at 207 Pontius Ave N, Seattle (next to the SCCA House, near the REI Flagship store), or online at
