Hickory Club Tournament to be Held at Lawrence Country Club
Centennial Celebration Hickory Club Tournament to be held May 8th
The hickory shafted clubs and balls used in the 1920’s are being provided by playhickorygolf.com, a national company which accommodates similar tournaments throughout the U.S.
The tourney will be open first to the club membership and will be limited to 40 players. “We will open it up to non-members if we don’t have a full field,” says Kristen Samp, head professional. “And if we get a big response we may be able to add a few players. We’re also encouraging players to dress in that time period with Plus Fours and argyle socks.” Golf apparel from that era is available at golfknickers.com.

A set of hickory shafted irons includes a 3 through 9, pitching wedge, sand wedge and putter. Loft varies from 22 degrees to 56 degrees. “There is no greater feeling in the world of golf then hitting a hickory iron pure,” said playhickorygolf.com.
