Appeal Board reverses judge's decision and issues award in favor of Imbesi Christensen client

NEW YORK - April 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Attorneys Brittany Weiner and Jeanne Christensen, of the law firm Imbesi Christensen, successfully appealed a hearing judge's decision that sustained the Department of Labor's determination that the firm's client, an employer, misclassified independent contractors and should repay $8,745.48.

The Honorable Geraldine Reilly (member) issued the written decision which reversed the hearing judge's decision in favor of the Department of Labor.

After an initial hearing was concluded, in which the hearing judge rendered a decision in favor of the Department of Labor, Imbesi Christensen filed an appeal. The Appeal Board overruled the hearing judge's decision mandating the repayment of $8,745.48.

The published decision is titled, "Appeal Board No. 577834."

Decision Mailed and Filed: April 1, 2014

As a result of the successful appeal, the firm’s client does not have to pay $8,745.48, as initially demanded by the Department of Labor.
