By: Golden Stage Inn Proctorsville, VT - Golden Stage Inn, just outside of Ludlow, Vermont, has introduced a series of food-themed events taking place between April 20 and June 21. In the Vermont spirit of sustainable teamwork, the Inn is partnering with local shops, farms and cooks to create B&B packages that add value to each business and to the community as a whole. These events include B&B specials called “Foodies’ Getaway” and “Road Trip!” In June, the Inn will host two Pop-Up Restaurant events prepared by guest cooks. “Homemade Indian Cuisine” with award-winning Lini Mazumdar of Londonderry, VT will take place on June 7, 2014. “Vermont Farm-to-Table” Special Events: “Homemade Indian Cuisine” and “Vermont Farm-to-Table” Serving local food is not new for Golden Stage Inn. Their breakfasts are prepared from scratch, using many sustainable and local ingredients including honey and eggs from the Inn's own backyard. Seeking to expand the local food scene and promote Vermont culinary talent, the Inn is going beyond breakfast to showcase two dinner events in June. On June 7, Lini Mazumdar will cook Homemade Indian Cuisine for dinner guests. Lini exemplifies the resiliency, ingenuity, and hard work essential to self-employment in Vermont. She caters, teaches cooking classes, supports her family’s Anjali Farm, and crafts herbal remedies – all while raising her daughter. Lini won the Taste of Vermont's Amateur Chef Competition in both 2013 and 2014. She is currently expanding her business by creating restaurant-style meals with small businesses like Golden Stage Inn. On June 21, Nick Matush will cook a Vermont Farm-to-Table Dinner. A graduate of the New England Culinary Institute, Nick has cooked in fine dining and farm-to-table restaurants across the USA. He moved back home to Springfield, VT in 2011 to reconnect with his community, his family, and the land. There, he began “The Mad Pickler,” a small business selling hand crafted pickles. His future plans include planting a homestead orchard and running a food cart using entirely Vermont-sourced ingredients. Golden Stage Inn Locally-Grown Packages A small business must be independent in order to survive. Yet in rural settings like Vermont, entrepreneurs must form community connections. This spring more than ever, Golden Stage Inn is partnering with local small business to benefit each other and the people they serve. Their spring packages are locally grown with these core values. Between April 20 and June 20, guests to the Inn can book a “Road Trip!” package. Road trip guests will receive locally made snacks and coupons to stores in Southern Vermont towns. Guests can also choose to book the “Foodies’ Getaway” special, which includes a picnic lunch of Vermont local foods and a gift certificate to one of three nearby restaurants serving local foods. Travelers can enjoy their vacation to VT all the more knowing they are supporting the local economy and small independent business.
