Boiler breakdown cover experts 247 Home Rescue comment on CMA investigation into energy market

LONDON - April 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Ofgem has advised the Competition and Markets Authority to investigate the UK's gas and electricity supply sector and determine if there are any competition issues that need to be resolved.

Commenting on these plans, Kevin Burke, spokesperson for boiler breakdown cover and home emergency cover specialists 247 Home Rescue, said:

"If the energy market is as fiercely competitive as it is alleged to be, surely consumers' energy bills would be lower, switching would be more commonplace, and loyal customers would receive cheaper premiums?

"Competition issues within the energy market have been rife since the days of privatisation, and despite the protestations from some of the Big Six, the general public still feel like they are being taken advantage of by corporate fatcats.

"A thorough and in-depth review of the energy market is vital if the industry is to restore public confidence.

"In the mean-time, the British public should be proactive in reducing their energy bills and should compare the market to find the best possible deals.

"Don't forget that the boiler cover policies offered by energy companies may not be as competitive as some of the policies available from specialist firms, such as 247 Home Rescue."
