Learn Business English iOS App nominated for a major British Council Award

EXETER, U.K. - April 3, 2014 - PRLog -- A new iOS app - Speak and Learn Business English has been nominated for a major British Council award, the ELTons. The app, intended for business English learners is one of seven English teaching and learning products shortlisted in the Digital Innovation Award category. The winners of each category will be announced at a ceremony in London on 22^nd May.

Louisa Walsh, Course Director at Phone English, suggests it is the app's functionality which has helped secure its place in the shortlist.  A voice recording facility allows learners to record and then compare their voice to a native English speaker. Learners can also tap to add new words and phrases to a ‘notes store’ which they can edit and retrieve on demand.  It is also possible to customise learning further by taking 1-1 Skype English lessons with a native English teacher. Mrs Walsh believes such unique features are a real advance, offering learners a total English learning experience.

Also worthy of note is the app’s design. Creating a professional, sophisticated product for the professional English learner which was also intuitive to use was the focus in development. App developers, Createanet, rose to the challenge of creating a stylish interface combined with simple navigation.

The app consists of 20 lessons, each commencing with a dialogue based on key business situations, such as meetings, socialising, presentations and negotiating. Interactive quizzes ensure learners can understand and use key words and phrases. The recording feature then helps learners refine their intonation as they compare their voice side-by-side with the original British speakers.
