South Shore Chamber of Commerce announces S-Bank as Partner
S-Bank formerly known as South Shore Co-operative Bank was organized in 1890. On October 14, 2008, the bank officially changed its name to S-Bank. Today, S-Bank has four branch locations in the towns of: Weymouth, Quincy, East Bridgewater and their newest location in Hanover, Massachusetts.
Donald P. Gill, President of S-Bank since January 2007, is a graduate of the University of Lowell, and the National School of Banking, Fairfield University. Prior to joining S-Bank, Gill was Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the First National Bank of Ipswich. As President of the bank, Gill oversaw the name change to S-Bank to eliminate confusion and differentiate the community bank from the many area businesses that have “South Shore” in their name. The community bank’s name changed while maintaining their 118 year tradition of superior customer service.
S-Bank is one of only 40 businesses to hold this prestigious position with the South Shore Chamber, affording financial commitment, promotional opportunity, high level connections with other Chamber partners and high-level participation in Chamber activities all the while boosting the Chamber’s visibility and reaching out to both existing and potential members.
“With our proud tradition of providing banking services to individuals and businesses in the community we are pleased to support the South Shore Chamber in promoting business growth across the South Shore,” said Gill. “The Chamber is a great resource for education, networking and advocacy for businesses and we welcome the opportunity to offer our support.”
Peter Forman, CEO of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, said, “Since 1890 S-Bank has been a part of the community and we welcome their partnership. Don’s leadership experience and open style will serve as a great resource for our membership.”
