BOSTON - April 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Unbound Visual Arts, Inc (http://www.unboundvisualarts.org)., the new non-profit incorporated and based in Allston-Brighton to enliven the creative economy for artists and art supporters, is very pleased to announce the opening of Susan Johnson: Water Water everywhere. This exhibition, at the Harvard Allston Education Portal Art Galleries, features a wide range of photographs that remind everyone that water is a non-renewable and threatened natural resource. Susan’s inspiring photographs present many examples of the grandeur and magnificence of water in different settings all around us.   Through her photos, she introduces viewers to the issue of scarcity of clean water on a planet that is over 75% covered with water. She also introduces references to human development and intrusion that affect the quality of our water.  Such activity leaves over 780 million people worldwide without clean drinkable water and greatly contributes to disease.   Susan’s photographs remind us that without water conservation by the industrialized nations, many more people will be without clean water in the coming years.  She personally promotes locally produced food as a strong means to ensure more water is shared with everyone.

A public reception with the artist is Thursday April 10 from 5:30-7:00 pm. The exhibition runs from April 7 through June 30, 2014 and is open Monday - Thursday from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Harvard Allston Education Portal, 175 North Harvard St., Allston, MA 02134 (Barry’s Corner). MBTA Buses: 66, 70, 70A, 86.

Susan Johnson, a member of Unbound Visual Arts, attended The Art Institute of Boston studying Fine Art and Photography, then went on to work at several Boston professional photo labs for 15 years doing custom color and black and white darkroom work. She also owned and operated her own custom photo lab in Cambridge for 9 years. After changing careers, getting two Associates Degrees and becoming an X-ray Technician, Susan couldn't help but feel something was missing. And so, returning to the creative world became a pull too strong to resist. Even after being forced to trade the darkroom for digital, the basic proven rules of that darkroom are still followed in the production of her final images. Susan is also a member of the Cambridge Art Association, the Arsenal Center for the Arts, Salem Art Association, Brush Gallery in Lowell, and the Rocky Neck Art Colony. She has been included in several group and solo exhibitions and has participated in both the Cambridge and Allston Open Studios.
