TURLOCK, Calif. - March 31, 2014 - PRLog -- The popular CIG Insurance Community Safety Saturday, a free, family-friendly event sponsored by Capital Insurance Group® (CIG) and hosted by GDI Insurance, is right around the corner. The event will take place at GDI Insurance Agency’s Turlock office at 801 Geer Road, Turlock, CA, 95380, on Saturday, May 17, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Grant Davis, President of GDI Insurance Agency remarks, “GDI is proud to team up for the 4th year with CIG to bring the biggest and best child safety program, the CIG Insurance Community Safety Saturday, to Turlock!"

Davis continues, “There is no one who does more to advocate for the rights and safety of children than the Klaas Kids Foundation and we are proud to bring Marc Klaas once again to our event to provide free identification tools for children.  Last year, we served over 200 children at the KlaasKids Print-A-Thon.”

One of the most important features of Community Safety Saturday will be the complimentary child car-seat safety inspection station operated by the Turlock Police Department, CHP and child car seat inspection technicians. National studies reveal that 80 to 90 percent of children are not properly restrained when in a vehicle, and many local car-seat check points report that 95 percent of car seats are installed incorrectly. At Community Safety Saturday, experts will check for proper installation and give parents and caregivers critical information about proper installation. California Highway Patrol, (CHP), will provide traffic safety information as well as CHP’s Start Smart teen driver safety course information.

The KlaasKids Foundation Print-A-Thon is another important and free service that will be offered at Community Safety Saturday. The Print-A-Thon provides digital photo IDs & fingerprinting for every child. Parents receive a free DNA collection kit, child-safety tips, and a 9-point plan on what to do if their child disappears. KlaasKids is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to stop crimes against children by providing education and knowledge to the general public, and by promoting partnerships with concerned citizens, the private sector, organizations, law enforcement, and legislators. Marc Klaas, who recently marked the 20th anniversary of his daughter Polly’s abduction and murder, advises, “The best way to avoid victimization is through education and knowledge.”

KlaasKids will also present exciting new child-safety technology products including the Cocoon for KlaasKids, a browser that utilizes the Cloud to protect privacy and provide age-appropriate websites, and Polly’s Guardian Angel, a missing-child alert system for iPhone and Android. Klaas remarks, “KlaasKids believes that technology has advanced to the point that certain applications can and do protect children from those wishing to exploit them.”

At the conclusion of Community Safety Saturday, a drawing will be held at which many exciting prizes will be given away, including a Bluetooth® headset, an emergency solar flashlight radio, a roadside safety kit, and many more.

Jeff Batozech, Northern California Regional Field Executive for CIG, remarks, "CIG Insurance Community Safety Saturday was born from our concern and commitment to keep children, teens, and families safe. We are very proud to partner with GDI Insurance Agency for the 4th year in a row and to work with the many community safety-oriented public services that will be helping us bring this important event to Turlock.”

Community Safety Saturday will also feature the following attractions with more organizations to be confirmed soon:

·       Turlock Police Department will bring a squad car and crime prevention information and will coordinate the child car-seat safety inspection station.
