FRISCO, Texas - March 31, 2014 - PRLog -- FRISCO, TX – March 28, 2014 – Texas State Senator Jane Nelson (R-Flower Mound) will speak at the Frisco Area Republican Women (FARW) monthly luncheon at the Stonebriar Country Club on Thursday, April 10, 2014. Based in Frisco, TX, FARW is dedicated to providing political information and education to the electorate, increasing the effectiveness of women in the course of good government through active political participation, and promoting the principles of the Republican Party.

State Senator Nelson represents District 12, which includes portions of Denton and Tarrant counties. She is a businesswoman and former teacher who served two terms on the State Board of Education before joining the Texas Senate.

"FARW is very honored to welcome Texas Senator Jane Nelson as our speaker this month,” said Terri Miller, President of FARW. “Among her topics, she will update us on her work on the Texas Legislative Sunset Committees and what we can look forward to in the next Legislative Session. The first Republican woman to chair a standing Senate Committee, Senator Nelson is the longest serving chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, chair of the Sunset Advisory Commission and serves on the Senate Finance Committee. She was the tenth woman and third Republican woman elected to the Texas Senate and is the highest ranking Republican in the Senate.
