The US National Library of Medicine  National Institutes of Health published a record of systematic  review on the prevalence of child sexual abuse in June 2013. Results showed out of 55 studies in 24 countries that 8 to 31% of girls and 3 to 17% of boys are sexually abused. To simplify the figures, 9 girls and 3 boys out of 100 are child sexual abuse victims.

“This is the stark, naked truth. It is a silent epidemic that destroys the minds and bodies of children everywhere, everyday. It is time to step forward and educate society about child sexual abuse. Another study indicates that most child sexual abuse predators are family members or friends and not strangers as commonly perceived. Contrary to what is depicted in movies, rapes do not happen in dark alleyways but occur in family homes, schools and places frequented by victims during regular daylight hours.
