The snow on the himalayas adds majesty to the mountains and the innumerable flower patches of vivid colors add to its beauty. When the sun shines hot on this field, thousands of flowers bloom here. This valley was unknown till a british mountaineer frank smythe first discovered this place. In 1931,  smythe wanted to scale a peak in garhwal called kamet. While returning after successfully completing his mission he took the western pass and lost his way and reached this valley after many difficulties.

Itinerary detail

Govindghat      (valley of flowers trek)          day 1

Drive from haridwar to govindghat via joshimat and devprayag (8-9 hrs)

We pick you up early in the morning at haridwar railway station. There are many ways to reach haridwar by train,bus and by air(reaching haridwar). We drive to govindghat from haridwar via joshimath and devprayag. Devprayag is a holy city which is the confluence of the bhagirathi and alaknanda rivers, after this the rivers become the holy ganges. We arrive at joshimath by the evening and check into a hotel. Dinner & overnight stay. Get a good night’s sleep as tomorrow our valley of flowers trek starts.

Ghangaria (valley of flowers trek)          day 2

Trek from govindghat to ghangaria (14 km, 3-4 hrs)

At govindghat there is a gradual ascent along a well maintained pilgrim trail to ghangaria. Upon arrival at ghangria check into a hotel. Explore the surroundings in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at camp/hotel.

Valley of flowers trek          day 3

Trek from ghangaria to valley of flowers and back. (5km one side/4-5 hrs)

Today after an early breakfast we start our trek towards the valley of flowers (3858 m) from ghangaria. The valley is an enchanting sight with an impressive array of rare wildflowers like geranium, marsh etc.. The valley is 10 kms long, 2 kms wide, and is divided by the pushpawati stream, into which several tiny streams and waterfalls merge. After absorbing the beauty of the valley of flowers we trek back to ghangaria. Dinner & overnight stay at the camp/hotel.

Hemkund sahib (valley of flowers trek)        day 4

Trek from ghangaria to hemkund and back.

In the morning we trek to hemkund sahib (4329 m) from ghangaria. This is quite a steep climb. In the sikh holy book, the guru granth sahib, the sikh guru gobind singh recounts that in a previous life, he meditated on the shores of a lake surrounded by seven snowcapped mountains now recognized as hemkund. Late afternoon trek back to ghangaria. Dinner & overnight stay at the camp/hotel.

Joshimath (valley of flowers trek)          day 5

Trek from ghangaria to govindghat. Then drive back to joshimat.

We trek back to govindghat and from here we drive to joshimath. Upon arrival at joshimath check into a hotel. Rest of the day is free to explore this picturesque area. One can also visit auli in the evening. Dinner and over night stay at the hotel.

Haridwar (valley of flowers trek)          day 6

Drive back to haridwar.

Early morning we drive back rishikesh/haridwar with a packed breakfast. Lunch enroute. Arrive rishikesh/haridwar by evening. Trek ends with a mosaic of colorful memories.
