By: Methodist Retirement Communities “Excitement is continuing to build as Methodist Retirement Communities brings the area’s first true Life Care community to League City with the development of The Crossings. Over the next several months, we’ll begin to see everyone’s hard work and planning on this community take shape,” said Ron Jennette, president and chief executive officer of Methodist Retirement Communities. “Thanks to the support of our board members, community leaders, project developers and future residents, we’re able to reach this significant milestone in bringing a vibrant new lifestyle and full continuum of care to area seniors.” A groundbreaking celebration will take place in the Crystal Ballroom at the South Shore Harbour Resort, located at 2500 South Shore Blvd., in League City at 2:00 p.m. There will be a dirt box present for future residents and invited dignitaries to ceremonially “turn the dirt.” During the ceremony, Jennette will offer welcoming remarks, and League City Mayor Tim Paulissen will speak about the benefits The Crossings will bring to League City and the surrounding area. The Crossings will consist of 116 independent living apartments, 34 assisted living apartments, 48 skilled nursing apartments and 24 memory support apartments, and will be the only Life Care option for seniors in the area. In addition to continuing care on one campus, The Crossings will offer freedom from the burden of homeownership, which will allow residents to focus on what’s really important to them. Multiple casual and fine dining venues will be located on campus, along with a fitness facility, swimming pool and various activity centers to encourage a social and engaging lifestyle. Construction on the community is anticipated to be complete in the fall of 2015. This new construction will bring more than 150 jobs to the area.
