MGPSY – A new platform of social security measures for overseas (ECR) Indian workers

AL TAWAR, UAE - March 28, 2014 - PRLog -- Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Suraksha Yojana, recently launched facility is the pension and life insurance fund scheme for overseas Indian workers is been computed to benefit over five million Indian workers those who are on temporary work permit overseas in somewhere around 17 Emigration Check Required (ECR) countries.

In order to canvass and explain the practice and application of this scheme a senior Indian official from the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Shri Prem Narain was on a four day visit to UAE.

He had met the two prime service providers in the region - Bank of Badora and Alankit Assignments along with Indian Associations at the Consulate in Dubai and at Indian Social Centre in Abu Dhabi to materialize the implementation of the aforementioned scheme.

There were certain important discussions that were tabled in the meetings and the objectives of MGPSY to motivate and enable the overseas Indian workers to save for their Return and Resettlement (R&R), old age or obtain life insurance cover against natural death during period of coverage along with government contribution was highlighted and discussed.

This scheme is important step on the part of Indian Government to provide perfect podium for social security measures for all those Indians who render their services in ECR countries on a temporary work permit.
