Title: The Anonymous Girl, By: Holy Ghost Writer - Book Review

March 27, 2014 - PRLog -- Espionage and intrigue continue in Holy Ghost Writer’s seventh book in The Count of Monte Cristo series, The Anonymous Girl. This installment once again follows the maneuvers of the clever hacker, Zaydee, AKA Princess Jane Doe, AKA Ester Bilderberg, etc. This book picks up where the last, That Girl Started Her Own Country, left off, with Zaydee doing everything within her power to escape prison and create her own country. Escaping a federal prison may seem like a flight of fancy and trying to create one’s own independent country may seem even more absurd, but when you are as shrewd as Zaydee and have the blood of the Count of Monte Cristo running through your veins anything may be possible.

Holy Ghost Writer once again creates a strong, intelligent, and highly capable heroine to follow in this book. Zaydee mirrors the abilities to woo, charm, and manipulate that her ancestor Edmond Dantes was known for. While sometimes Zaydee’s actions are far from likable, it can hardly be contested that she is not someone to be trifled with. It can be quite thrilling to see a heroine that is so capable, but at times Holy Ghost Writer once again straddles that line between thrilling and far fetched. I couldn’t help but to shake my head at times at how things simply seemed to fall perfectly into place for Zaydee. Honestly, though landing in prison in the first place was a stroke of bad luck, she never really seems to face anything dire or harmful. She could live out her days in relative ease in prison if she chose to. This lack of threat makes this book slower than some of Holy Ghost Writer’s previous works. However, it is quite amusing to see how Zaydee is going to bamboozle her way into to getting what she wants.

Like many of Holy Ghost Writer’s other books in the series, The Anonymous Girl, is more about subtle intrigues and plots, rather than a fast paced action story. This book delves into the ins and outs of the hacker lifestyle, so don’t expect shoot-outs and car chases. I believe the style of writing and the over-the-top characterization of Zaydee and her capabilities will take some getting used to for some readers, especially for those new to the series, but it is well worth taking the opportunity to give it a chance. Holy Ghost Writer is full of surprises and the way he ties in other areas of popular culture into his works is always amusing. A reader just never knows in what direction he is going to take the story. If you have been a fan of Holy Ghost Writer’s previous works, then you are sure to be pleased with The Anonymous Girl and will want to pick up a copy today in order to continue the adventure.
