Pendleton County Dispatch Achieves Total Response Accreditation

Designation Serves a Mark of Quality and Commitment in the Public Safety Industry

MADISON, Conn. - March 27, 2014 - PRLog -- The Pendleton County 911 Dispatch Center, successfully implemented the Total Response Call Handling System and has achieved accreditation.

This important designation serves as a mark of excellence in the public safety industry. The Pendleton County staff undertook a dynamic process to standardize service, define quality, and measure performance. Through this process, the commitment to providing quality service and agency accountability in emergency call handling was validated.

Following adoption of standardized protocols and training in PowerPhone’s Total Response Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) system, the personnel at Pendleton County’s 911 Dispatch Center committed to a formal accreditation process as part of their ongoing adherence to providing the highest standard of care in the industry.

“Our agency continually strives to provide high quality service and is therefore committed to this process and the continuous improvement it helps to bring about. Not every dispatch center can claim accreditation, so I’m very proud of our staff and all the hard work and additional duty they put forth to attain this recognition. Their efforts and dedication to succeed in this program will result in a higher standard of care for our citizens who depend on us to provide help, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And, that is what makes it all worthwhile” said Director of Communications, Mike Moore.

The department began with a self-evaluation of their call handling and dispatch function to help establish benchmarks against which future operations could be compared. With the help of the staff at PowerPhone, Pendleton County 911 was able to define the standards they wanted to meet and develop an action plan to achieve those standards.

In accordance with the accreditation guidelines, a percentage of the emergency calls were randomly selected and retrospectively reviewed for compliance and to measure effectiveness. The purpose of this practice is to promote continuous improvement through the identification of performance strengths and areas requiring additional adjustment.

“The Pendleton County 911 Dispatch Center is an agency that is committed to providing quality service to the citizens of their community. The administration at Pendleton County 911 has made a considerable effort to organize and define their program. The staff at the Pendleton County 911 Dispatch Center is very involved in the program and commended for their performance on a regular basis. We are proud of their accomplishments,” said Heather Pierce, PowerPhone Standards Coordinator. “I look forward to working with the staff at Pendleton County to continually define the standard of care and support their efforts for continual improvement,” said Pierce.
