School Sisters of St. Francis to Hold General Assembly in Milwaukee

The theme of the 2014 General Assembly is “Be a spark of Franciscan peace for an intercultural world”

MILWAUKEE - March 27, 2014 - PRLog -- The School Sisters of St. Francis will hold the congregation’s General Assembly in the International Motherhouse in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from March 28 – April 13, 2014. The International Liturgy will take place at 4:00 p.m. on March 29.

The General Assembly is an international gathering of representatives from all five provinces of the School Sisters of St. Francis: the United States, Latin America, North India, South India, and Europe.

During this event, which takes place every four years, the delegates set future directions for the congregation and elect a new international leadership team.

The theme of the 2014 General Assembly is “Be a spark of Franciscan peace for an intercultural world.” In preparation for the General Assembly the sisters are engaging in a faith sharing process which will help to shape the agenda for March and April, 2014.

Over 50 sisters will participate in the General Assembly and hear reports from each province, from the current international leadership team, from financial staff and ongoing committees.

The days will be full of interaction for the sisters in discussions, prayer and celebrations. All gatherings will be held in St. Joseph Hall with simultaneous interpretation capabilities. The three official languages of the congregation are English, German and Spanish.

By the end of the General Assembly, through a discernment process, a new international leadership team will be elected and will take office on July 1, 2014.
