Main Street Growth & Opportunity Coalition Launches in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio - March 26, 2014 - PRLog -- The Main Street Growth & Opportunity Coalition, an alliance of businesses, local trade associations and concerned individuals committed to supporting a common sense, pro-growth agenda for America, today announced its launch in Ohio.

“Washington is stuck, and that’s no help to small business in America.  We simply can’t set our business plans until Washington sets policy,” said Mary Leavitt, founder of The Flag Lady’s Flag Store in Columbus and a founding member of the Ohio coalition.

The group will support comprehensive tax and immigration reform and expanding trade opportunities and will educate federal lawmakers and state residents about the economic benefits of these policies and illustrate the consequences of inaction.

“America’s small businesses are doing our part to create and sustain jobs in our challenging economy.  But Washington is stifling small business investment which is holding us back,” said Greg Smolik, Owner of Best Solutions Medical Supply and a steering committee member.  “The refusal to tackle issues important to small businesses stifles our ability to grow and drive our economy. We need immediate action on tax reform, trade policy and immigration reform to help get our economy back on track.”

“The compliance costs of business taxes—in terms of both time and money—keep us from focusing more time on growing our businesses and creating jobs,” said Leavitt.  “We need to get rid of our complex tax code.   Taxes need to be fair and set the stage for growth.”
