NASHVILLE, Tenn. - March 26, 2014 - PRLog -- The famous Bluebird Café is the location for the very first concert/CD release party show for the duo of Cactus Honey formed by stellar Nashville song-maven Kim McLean and San Diego music darling Eve Selis on April 8, 2014.  With concurrent solo careers in full swing and over two thousand miles geographically between their home locations, the duo was forged from a friendship originating at a songwriter’s round that took place in Nashville just after the attacks of September 11, 2001.

As the nation reeled from the shock of attack and terror, both artists decided to use their healing gift of song to bring peace to themselves and those in attendance.  Both were seared together as soul friends in the ashes of emotion that can only come from such a traumatic life event in a nation.  No one forgets where they were on a day like that.   Eve was in Nashville seeking songs for a new music project, and on her way home she was listening to the collection of songs selected and realized three of the stand-out songs had a common denominator of Kim McLean as songwriter.  Neither singer-songwriter knew then that those songs would later become some of their career cornerstones, leading to Kim’s production work in the studio with Eve, shows together, and a long friendship.  And one day it occurred to them, the uniqueness of their sounds blended vocally, both rough and soft at the same time would make an interesting project.  Using the name to describe that unique sound, Cactus Honey was created within a new genre they've coined "boomer country".

Both artists in their solo careers have done countless shows for charities and written/performed songs to be used as non-profit fund-raising tools for hundreds of worthy causes.  As a duo, this burlap and satin combo has strengthened that effort using Cactus Honey as a vehicle to do even more for worthy organizations.  While recording the album this summer in Nashville, they performed as a duo for the first time raising money for Rest Stop Ministries in Hermitage, TN (a residential rehab for victims of human trafficking in Middle Tennessee) and now to release their new CD, they have chosen both a return concert fundraiser for Rest Stop on April 12, and Susan G. Komen benefitting from a show called Bands for Breast Cancer on April 15th, 2014 at The Listening Room in downtown Nashville.

Between The Bluebird Café to the pink ribbons of breast cancer victory at The Listening Room, Kim McLean and Eve Selis will be doing press stops, motivational musical keynotes, and giving appetizer listens to their new CD, Groovy Life available at all major online music outlets via Hippie Chick Twang Records.
