Abelardo Cuellar Quick in AFR R1&2 Qualifying and Races Despite Car Contact

ZHUHAI, China - March 26, 2014 - PRLog -- Zhuhai International Circuit

PS Racing driver Abelardo Cuellar of Mexico proved his worth this weekend, taking 4th in the International Class Qualifying with a fast 1.38.7 and fighting for every corner on every lap this weekend in both races despite car damage.

In Qualifying, Cuellar was one of the only drivers to get into the coveted ‘38’s’ on the new GITI tires, his first time on the new compound slicks.

In Race One, Cuellar got off to a brilliant start and passed multiple drivers to jump up several positions, only to be caught in the melee in Turn One, as several drivers bunched up. As a result, Abelardo made contact with a slower driver’s rear tire and broke his front wing, losing all downforce for the remainder of the entire race.

Despite this, Cuellar went characteristically ‘flat out’ and kept up the fight, to finish 4th in the International Class and earn 17 points.

In Race Two, the Mexican driver got off to another brilliant start, only to have contact with another driver on the opening lap, bending a wishbone. Despite this, Cuellar kept up the fight but eventually, due to car damage, had to settle for 5 in the International Class, earning another 15 points.

The next Asia Formula Renault races will feature a triple-header weekend, in Malaysia at the famous Sepang F1 International Circuit on May 9-11. Stay tuned to http://www.abegofast.com for updates on Abelardo Cuellar.
