-- Lawrence Country Club, located in Lawrence, KS will celebrate it’s 100th year of existence during their 2014 season. Established in 1914, Lawrence Country Club has been an integral part of the community, which is also the home of The University of Kansas.
A search for historical documents, photos and items has involved members both past and present, and has turned up some very intriguing items. Of which, include the original handwritten Board of Director’s meeting minutes from the first year of operations. Outlined in this document are the original annual dues of $20, to be paid quarterly, among other historical anecdotes.
Lawrence Country Club is planning several activities to celebrate and commemorate their 100th year, such as a “Hickory Stick” Tournament scheduled for May 8th, and a “Centennial Celebration”
scheduled for July 18th and 19th. “We are expecting to celebrate all year,” says General Manager, Rheanne Etken, “Our club is very proud of our heritage and history. We want to mark this milestone in a huge way, involving the entire Lawrence community.”
